Today we would like to talk to you about the new version of Ask for a Quote module for Prestashop, which is one of the most successful solutions for this platform.
The module has been on the market for quite some time, back since Prestashop 1.2, and these foundations have unfortunately not proved to be stable enough for the newest web surfing trends. This is why we have decided that instead of trying to patch things, we would start from a clean slate, and we have completely rewritten the module.
Let’s see what remained of the old and what is new.
First of all, we have kept basic functionalities, since most of these were requested by you, but we have simplified the procedure so that it is much more direct, coherent and intuitive at both the client and admin end. Secondly, we tried to make sure that it integrates as seamlessly as possible into the world of Prestashop, inheriting its appearance and functionality and thereby increasing compatibility with personalized themes. And lastly, we gave it all a spin by introducing a completely new function, which is none other than the possibility to turn an offer into an order.
But how does all of this happen? Simple:
Similarly to the buying process, the customer places the products they are interested in into a virtual quote cart, and after filling out some text fields, asks the owner of the store for a quote. If sending is successful, both of them receive a notification, and a built-in messaging system also allows them to chat and to haggle. If both parties are content with the offer, the owner freezes the bargaining, which is transformed into an order, and the discount is deducted automatically as well.
The module works perfectly in catalog mode – even more, it’s an almost compulsory plug-in –, it gets along completely with the default shopping cart, and you can even customize it to appear only in selected categories or next to the products which can’t be ordered on-line.
Don’t forget: successful bargaining is one of the foundations of good business; it ensures that both parties are content, and a happy customer can easily turn into a returning customer!
